About Tūhono ā Kura

Tūhono ā Kura was formed following support from Ngā Hapū o Whangārei Hui held in August 2019 to provide shared services and resources which support the hapū to connect with the schools, kura, kōhanga and ECE across the respective tribal rohe of the hapū of the wider Whangārei area.

Since 2020, our kaupapa has grown as an ongoing collaborative programme of action across education, reo, tikanga and development opportunities to support our hapū with this website as a shared kauwhata rauemi (online resource hub) available for whānau, hapū, schools, community and workplaces.

Hui, engagement events, haerenga takiwā and activities have been hosted to connect and grow hapū - school connections, promote te reo Māori with community, kāinga and hapū and acknowledge our unique tribal landscape and cultural narratives which exist throughout Te Riu o Whangārei Terenga Parāoa (our tribal areas).

We acknowledge resource support provided by Te Mahau Te Tāhuhu o Te Mātauranga and Te Mātāwai to enable our diverse work programmes to be developed and implemented over time.

We thank our kaikōrero, our kaiwaiata, contributors, technicians and whānau who have supported our work while balancing hapū, marae and whānau commitments.
